This engaging, hands-on STEM workshop invites students to explore the fascinating world of light through interactive investigation. Students examine natural and artificial sources of light, uncover the science behind rainbows and light scattering, and develop a clear understanding of the reason we experience day and night.

Through practical experimentation, students investigate key properties of light—including reflection, refraction, and shadow formation. The workshop culminates with a dynamic STEM activity where students build simple electrical circuits powered by solar panels, connecting scientific concepts to real-life applications and renewable energy solutions.

✨ Workshop Activity Highlights

🌞 Sources of Light – Natural vs Artificial Students identify and classify different light sources, understanding that Sun is the primary source of energy and explore how through its light, enables life on Earth.
🌍 Day & Night Investigation Using models and light sources, students explore Earth’s rotation to understand the cycle of day and night in a visual and interactive way.
🌈 Discovering Rainbows – The Hidden Colours of Light Students use special lenses and experiments to reveal that white light is made up of all the colours of the spectrum.
🔍 Properties of Light Hands-on experiments with mirrors and daily materials help students explore how light travels, bends, reflects, and creates shadows. Students test different materials to understand how they interact with light, developing observation and prediction skills.
⚡ Light as Energy Students build simple electrical circuits and test solar panels, discovering how sunlight can be converted into usable energy.
🟣 UV Detectives Using UV-sensitive beads, students observe invisible UV rays and learn the importance of sun protection in everyday life.
